Boich Family Cellar Wine Offer

The main objective of Boich Family Cellars is to produce some of the finest single vineyard wines from Napa Valley’s most celebrated and proven vineyards. By combining the highest quality fruit with the skill and passion of a very talented winemaker, Jeff Ames, remarkable wines are produced.

Most of the Boich 2016 Cabernets have just been released…too early for scores, but I have tasted them all and the quality is amazing. Production is limited with some wines at only 100 cases. They will go fast so act early to enjoy what Napa Cabs are all about.

The Wines

2016 Chardonnay, Ritchie Vineyards, Russian River Valley
Ritchie Vineyards is a very well-known and prestigious vineyard, growing grapes for many of the cult wineries. The Ritchie Chardonnay shows amazing vibrancy and purity of flavor, brimming with juicy lemon scented green apple, white peach and tangerine, enlivened by zesty acidity and a long finish that maintains focus and depth. This wine is not offered to the trade and is only available at Mayacama and the winery.

2016 Cabernet Sauvignon, George III Vineyard, Rutherford
The famed Beckstoffer Georges III in Rutherford offers notes of charcoal, licorice, truffle, black currant and a full-bodied mouth feel with stunning richness, length and a great finish. It is a magnificent Cabernet from a first-growth vineyard that was once the backbone of the many BV Private Reserves favored by Andre Tchelistcheff. The very limited 2015 sold out quickly and the 2016 vintage is just being released and has not been rated. Robert Parker rated the 2014 vintage 96 points.

2016 Cabernet Sauvignon, Howell Mountain
For this sexy, delicious, up-front Cab, Boich purchased grapes from a well-known, high end cult winery that shall be unnamed (ask me personally for the name…I can’t put it in print). This Cabernet has a dense ruby/purple color, hints of smoke, mineral, earth and spice. Supple-textured, with loads of fruit, soft tannins and good acidity. The wine is lush and surprisingly approachable for a Mountain Cab. Just being released and not yet rated.

2016 Cabernet Sauvignon, Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper
Located north of the town of Yountville in the Oakville AVA, Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper was originally part of a large piece of land owned by George C. Yount, from whom the town of Yountville takes its name. Purchased by Charles Hopper in 1877, it is now owned and farmed by Andy Beckstoffer. The vineyard is sourced from a few of Napa’s better known wineries and Parker scores are in the high 90s. Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Cabs reveal a very deep garnet-purple color and enticingly savory earthy/meaty/gamey notions over a somewhat broody core of black fruits, tar, tree bark and pencil shavings. Medium to full-bodied, tightly wound and muscular in the mouth, this wine has a gregarious fragrant earth character supported by firm, grainy tannins.

2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, Wall Road
Robert Parker says; “Another mountain Cabernet, the 2014 Wall Road Vineyard from Mt. Veeder, reveals beautiful raspberry, blueberry and floral notes and sweet tannin in a complex style. The wine has loads of fruit, a medium-bodied wine, and soft tannins in the finish. One rarely sees a quintessentially elegant wine from Mt. Veeder, as most of them tend to be blockbusters, but this certainly qualifies. It has an attractive personality, and the finish is long and reassuring. This is a beauty to drink now and over the next 10-15 years – a sleeper of the vintage…91 points."
