The Icons:

2013 Audacieux, Oakville, Napa Valley  $99
Audacieux means bold, courageous and daring and embodies their approach to crafting this Napa Valley Cabernet. They embarked on this brand with an audacious approach and to create a high quality elegant European style Napa wine from the ridge top looking down on Oakville. This wine is unfiltered & aged for 24 months in all new French oak.  Pricing is limited to this offer only.

2014 Chappellet Signature Reserve, Pritchard Hill, Napa Valley  $86
This 94+ point Cabernet Sauvignon, is a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9/% Petit Verdot and the rest Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, is a classic example of Pritchard Hill, Chappellet and of Napa Valley. Brilliant purity, a dense purple color, superb blackberry and floral-infused blueberry fruit and cassis, a full-bodied mouthfeel, moderate but sweet tannin and a long, layered, texture and finish make for a profound Cabernet Sauvignon that actually sells at a bargain price for what is in the bottle. Moreover, look for it to evolve graciously for another 20+ years.

2012 Fisher Coach Insignia: Napa Valley  $96
Opulent aromas of high-toned fresh raspberry and ripe plum mingle with rose petal and a hint of forest floor. The palate is juicy on entry yielding a very polished mid palate with fine grain, well-layered tannins. Flavors of blackberry and dark cherry, along with tobacco leaf, anise and toasty caramel, espresso bean and oak elements unite, culminating with a supple finish and striking minerality.

2012 Gadona Estate, Encosta, Pritchard Hill, Napa Valley   $92
Produced from hillside vineyards a top of  Pritchard Hill by Phillipe Melka, Encosta means “hillside” in Portuguese. This Cabernet was originally created to showcase the youthful vibrancy of the vines planted by our team when the property was first acquired. With time, however, Encosta has become less about younger vines and more about showcasing the various expressions of our highly dynamic vineyard characteristics.

2013 Lail Vineyards, Blueprint, Napa Valley   $93
Another great wine made by Philipper Melka, Blueprint Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 is refined, seductive and muscular, with a nose that is very expressive with dark notes of blackberry, blueberry, white chocolate and black cherry. In the mouth it is juicy, vibrant and fresh. There is a lot of tension in this beauty, with the Blueprint Cabernet Sauvignon’s signature delicious and elegant texture tied to pure flavors of bittersweet chocolate, spice and caramel. Decant it if possible in its youth to allow the complexity and opulence to shine through.

The Values:

2014 Ferrari-Carano, Alexander Valley   $42
The Ferrari-Carano Cabernet Sauvignon comes from mountain-grown fruit in Alexander Valley. Vibrant aromatics of cassis, mocha, dried cherries, mint, cola and smoky leather awaken the senses, while full-bodied flavors of black cherries and plums generously fill the palate. Lingering notes of toasty caramel round out the finish.

2013 Freemark Abby, Napa Valley   $40
Opaque, dark ruby color introduces this wine that expresses dark fruit aroma and flavors. With spicy sweet oak complexity, the wine exudes dark fruit such as blackberry, black currant, blueberry and dark cherry. There are nuances of dark chocolate, chocolate berry truffle dusted with cocoa powder, cola, aromatic cedar, cinnamon, clove, graham crackers and a hint of tobacco. The body is very full with a soft entry, coupled with dark cherry/berry flavors that develop from start to finish. With great texture and mouth feel, this cabernet is full bodied, rich and opulent. In one word…. delicious.

2012 Hauck Cellars, Stuhlmuller Vineyard, Alexander Valley   $40
With its layers of crème de cassis, black cherry, olive tapenade, violets and moist earth, there is a lovely classic quality to this Cabernet. On the palate, firm tannins and an inviting freshness frame the dark berry flavors beautifully, with more savory and herbal hints adding nuance and intrigue.  A classic Cabernet cassis and cherry elements with tannic concentration and blue fruit notes.

2013 Ramey Winery, Napa Valley   $44
The ninth vintage of this appellation Cabernet is blended from a combination of hillside and valley floor vineyards.  Our style combines the harmony produced by traditional Bordelaise winemaking techniques with the voluptuousness gained from California’s weather, especially in this perfect vintage.

Another delicious wine, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is a terrific example of the year. Creamy and beautifully layered on the palate, the 2013 captures all of the pedigree of this great vintage in a style that offers a bit more immediacy than many other wines. Best of all, the Cabernet Sauvignon is a remarkable value. Bright red stone fruit, mint, white flowers and tobacco add nuance on the silky yet powerful finish.
