Dear Mayacama Members,

As we approach the end of 2018, we would like to take the time to thank our entire Membership for an incredible year.  Your support and generosity throughout a year in which we were still recovering from the devastating wildfires was overwhelming.  We are proud to have welcomed 40 new Members to Mayacama in the last 12 months marking one of the strongest Membership Sales efforts in our history. Of those new Members, we added some terrific Vintner Members to our already impressive portfolio - A. Rafanelli, The Price Family Vineyards and Estates, which includes Three Sticks Wine, Gary Farrell, and Kistler Vineyards. We also welcomed Occidental Vineyards (the Kistler Family’s new project) and finally La Follette/Quivira Vineyards, and Flambeaux Winery.

When we reflect back on the year there are many memories to highlight including the Trans-Mississippi Four-Ball Championship.  Hosting National Championships such as these are a great way for us to maintain our "Top 100" ranking in addition to opening our doors to potential new Members. Incidentally, this Championship brought us several prospective Members that we hope to add to our Membership in early 2019. Congratulations are in order for your fellow Members, Paul Balatti and Mark Martin who placed 1st and 3rd in their respective fields!

You may recall a letter that was recently sent regarding the 4 new Villas under construction located by the 3rd green and 4th tee box. We are happy to announce they are nearly complete and will soon be ready for occupancy!  This is an exciting development for the Club because not only does this provide more lodging unit availability, but it also has allowed us to open nightly rentals to all Mayacama Members.  We are eager to ring in the new year with this policy change and beginning January 2, 2019, you will be able to make reservations on a first come first serve basis!  All reservation requests must be emailed to [email protected].  We expect the nightly rental demand to be very strong in 2019 so we encourage you to make your reservations early!

Another exciting announcement is our Clubhouse renovation which we all have been anxiously awaiting. The permitting process with the County of Sonoma took much longer than we originally expected with final approval having only been received just a few weeks ago in early December. In our initial phase of the Clubhouse remodel we will be addressing almost all furniture in the Clubhouse as well as the outdoor terraces.  Demolition of the Clubhouse Boardroom will begin in mid-January and will give way to a beautiful new lounge area giving a full 180-degree view of both the Courtyard and 18th Green from the Bar & Grill. We will be adding a stone facade to both the Library and Bar & Grill fireplaces as well as two new dining patios on the back terrace overlooking the Golf Course. It is important to note that day-to-day operations will not be affected by these renovations.  We will be moving the Bar & Grill experience to the Living and Dining Room areas of the Clubhouse with the addition of a small but permanent Bar and televisions for your entertainment! We are excited about all of these changes and we cannot wait to see you enjoying the new Bar & Grill area! Our target date for reopening the Bar & Grill is mid-April and we will be providing you with updates through Club communications.

Finally, the Club will be rotating our Advisory Board representatives soon and will begin meeting with them on a regular basis.  The intent is to give them more information about Club Operations, so they will be better educated to represent the Club and help answer any questions you may have.  This will be an important advancement as the Club continues to mature. Please remember you may also contact the Club’s Managing Partner, Jonathan Wilhelm or the Club’s General Manager, Greg Brown at any time for any questions, comments or concerns.

In closing, we are announcing a 5% dues increase for all Mayacama Members.  It is no secret that the Club must continue to be a competitive employer in Sonoma County in order to attract and retain qualified staff so we can provide you with the best service possible.  Although unemployment is at record lows throughout the country, we believe Wine Country to be particularly challenging due to the high cost of living and the loss of over 6,000 homes from last year’s fire.  To further illustrate, the State of California has mandated minimum wage must be $15/hour by 2022, however, Wine Country has already reached that level and we have had to respond accordingly and certainly much earlier than anticipated.  Your next statement will reflect the dues increase as outlined below:

2019 Membership Golf Club Dues 2019 Membership Golf Club Dues
Residence Club Members

Approx. 33% Reduction in Golf Dues
Charter $19,425 Charter $13,015
National $9,713 National $6,508
Vintner $14,569 Vintner $9,762
Social $4,857

We are truly looking forward to what we are expecting to be a busy year here in 2019!  Mayacama has what we feel is the greatest membership at any Club and we thank you once again for your continued support.  Happy New Year and hope to see you soon!
