As we near the end of 2020, like so many around the world, we are looking forward to brighter days ahead as we welcome the hope this New Year inspires. The past year has challenged all of us in ways we could not have imagined prior to the start of the pandemic. Yet, while there has been tremendous hardship endured by so many, we could not be more proud of the support shown by our community of members and employees.
As the Mayacama Members have done so often when hardship has struck the employees, your generosity provided financial support to those in need when other resources were not available. Member support during the early days of the pandemic to the annual holiday fund in November contributed to raising $415,000 for the benefit of those employees who lost their jobs and were most affected by the shutdowns. The appreciation and gratitude from all of the employees at Mayacama could not be more profound and genuine.
While this past year put on hold many of the new programs we were looking forward to introducing to the members, we are excited about the latest additions to the executive team that will help lead these new efforts. Chef James Corwell has an extensive list of culinary experiences that we will launch throughout 2021. Our member services group is headed by Tara Green, who is there to assist members and is meant to be a point person for many of your club inquiries. New Wine Director, Carey Vanderborg will be working closely with Dan Michael and myself as we look to relaunch the Vintner Program and engage with our Vintner Members as we find new ways to explore the world of food and wine.
The recent resurfacing of our Club parking lot has been a welcome improvement, and we look forward to further Club enhancements this coming year with a complete overhaul of the Fitness Center, new furnishings and design in all of the original Casitas, and the start of the next phase of Villa construction this Spring! Significant upgrades to the Club’s irrigation system will ensure the golf course remains in pristine condition this year and beyond. We are also excited to launch a new Mayacama mobile app which will allow the convenience of registering for events, making reservations for dining, tennis courts, starting times as well as easy access to the roster, wine offers and more.
The Mayacama team is committed to our collective goal of remaining open and available to our membership in a safe and responsible manner. We operate with the understanding that at any moment, we may be required to shift our strategies as we respond to the ever-changing environment that COVID-19 has created. Like many of you, we see the light at the end of this long tunnel and look forward to our winemaker dinners, club championships, special events and most importantly, reconnecting with fellow friends and family that we have not been able to see this past year. For those who were unable to redeem the credits offered for 2020, we will extend their use through 2021.
From all of us at Mayacama, we raise a glass to a happy and prosperous 2021!
Sincerely,

Jonathan Wilhelm, Managing Partner
