Annual Letter & 2022 Dues Structure

We cannot believe that 2021 is nearing its end as this year seems to have passed by in the blink of an eye. We here at Mayacama are incredibly grateful for the continued and tremendous support of this membership and thank each and every one of you for the very generous contributions to the annual holiday fund. Your donations to the employees provide additional support during the holiday season, presents under trees, and a sincere sense of gratitude for the Mayacama family we all share.

Although the continued pandemic posed challenges to all of us in different ways, we are extremely proud of how the Mayacama staff have supported the Club’s efforts to provide an exceptional experience to our Members and guests. We recorded the most golf rounds that the Club has ever seen, with more than 20,000 rounds played this year. Ted and his staff held all our annual championships this past year in addition to the numerous junior golf camps and ladies’ events throughout the summer season. We could not be happier to see so many families picking up the game of golf and supporting the efforts of the Club to promote these new programs that welcome new individuals to the game.

As Clubs mature, change is inevitable, and this past year Mayacama has experienced its share of change in several departments. Most notably, Ted Antonopoulos, the only Head Golf Professional Mayacama has ever known, announced his retirement and transition to Honorary status at year-end. Ted’s impact on Mayacama and its culture and status around the world cannot be measured by any metric. The Championships we host and the pride and professionalism displayed by our golf staff represent the traditional aspects of this game that Ted helped instill into the fabric of Mayacama's culture. We could not be more excited for Ted’s longtime first assistant Zach Makilan to assume the role of Head Golf Professional and continue with these traditions as we build new ones into the future.

Executive Chef Robert Leva is making significant progress with the culinary program as he continues to build a team that can execute his vision. After what has been a hectic holiday season with over 20 holiday parties and banquets, the culinary team is looking forward to some downtime in January to focus on further menu developments and new items to share with our membership. We are excited to relaunch First Friday Pours this January and will be holding the first of a series of Winemaker Dinners starting in February, bringing back traditions Members have always enjoyed.

We know 2022 will be an amazing year, and Mayacama is eager to introduce new and exciting activities, golf games, and different opportunities that allow our Members to connect with one another, which has always been the cornerstone of this Club. One characteristic of Mayacama that we are particularly proud of is the collegial atmosphere that all of you have created and the friendships formed as a result. We look forward to having many more lasting memories and connections made at our special Club.

With warm regards,

Jonathan Wilhelm, Managing Partner
