Dear Member,
As many of you know, Melinda Murray has been the Activities Director here at Mayacama and although her passion has always been golf, she has done her best to keep your children and grandchildren entertained over the years. Melinda was recently offered a position as an intern with the PGA Tour and will unfortunately be leaving us at the end of July. We congratulate her on this wonderful opportunity and also admire her for following her dreams! So please wish Melinda well on her future endeavors if you see her in the next few weeks. Thank you for your 7 years of service here at Mayacama, Melinda and good luck to you!
Although it was never our intention, over the past several years the children’s program has evolved into more of a “childcare” opportunity for most families as opposed to operating as a true Camp series. The reality is the timing of Melinda’s departure is actually likely going to work in our favor as there has been very little interest in the Club’s Summer Camp Series so far this summer. And so we have decided to cancel the Summer Camp series for the entire month of August, except for the Saturday Camps in August which we will produce and sign ups are below. We will also host the Junior Golf School as scheduled, August 9th - 11th. This will allow us to immediately begin the process of “re-inventing” our Children’s programming here at Mayacama for the future.
8/5 Fish Bowl Craft
8/9 - 11 Junior Golf School, Sign up on the Foretees App.
8/12 Fine Art
8/19 Glass Fusion
8/26 Scandia Field Trip
The good news is we have hired an outside consultant to help recreate the Children’s programming here at Mayacama. Courtney Rebel will begin the process of change with this program. You may recognize her face and name – we recently began promoting her as a Titleist Performance Institute Certified Fitness Trainer just last month. Some of you have even attended her classes already and went through her stretching exercises each day during the Member-Member Golf Championship last month. Courtney holds a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from the University of Colorado and focused on the study of human movement. She comes most recently from Congressional Country Club and has been working in the Club industry for the last 20 years focusing on wellness, fitness, aquatics and youth programs. She has even won awards from the Club Manager’s Association of America for her innovation in Youth Programs and events. We are very excited and fortunate to have her joining the Mayacama team.
We have always prided ourselves on being a Family Club and will continue to do so and will work hard with Courtney to revamp our programming for the future. This is one of the most important roles here at Mayacama and please know we are fully aware of this. We look forward to updating you with more information soon and until then, we’ll see you at the Club!
