The Philosophy

Wines, like people, are a reflection of their origin and evolution. By selecting three different vineyards with three different expressions of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, the Debate seeks to point out the diversity of terroir that is shown in each of these wines. The Debate defines the notion of terroir as the interaction of a climate, a soil and a plant in a unique location. Vines, like people, develop character from its surroundings and upbringing. Each of these wines will possess their own personality and reflect the different facets from its place in the world.

The Wines

2012 The Debate Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr Crane Vineyard
A Cabernet Sauvignon Dry Red Table wine from
USA, Napa, North Coast, California, USA

The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard blew me away. Wet rocks, subtle barbecue smoke, blueberry pie, blackberry and cassis fruit aromas jump from the glass of this inky/purple-colored wine. Oozing with extract and richness, it is full-bodied, opulent, sexy, complex and incredibly delicious and addictive. This stunning 2012 can be drunk now or cellared for another 15+ years

2012 The Debate Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Missourri Hopper
A Cabernet Sauvignon Dry Red Table wine from
USA, Napa, North Coast, California, USA

The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard exhibits more chocolate, graphite, forest floor and earthy notes as well as plenty of blackberry and cassis fruit, a full-bodied mouthfeel, striking intensity, and a profound, majestic, skyscraper-like mouthfeel. It is another remarkable effort from this Beckstoffer-owned vineyard. Just so you know, if Andy Beckstoffer does make Forbes’ billionaire list, he will have made it the hard way – he will have earned it. Look for this distinctive, earthy, Graves-like Missouri Hopper to age well for 15+ years.

2012 The Debate Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard
A Cabernet Sauvignon Dry Red Table wine from
USA, Napa, North Coast, California, USA

The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard is one of those surreal, flawless, state-of-the-art, mind-blowing wines that one is so fortunate to find. Waves of blueberries, blackberries, red berries, licorice, smoke and vanillin soar from the glass of this complex beauty. Extremely full-bodied and velvety textured with not a hard edge to be found, this outrageous Cabernet Sauvignon is already drinking well. It should only get better for another decade and last for 2-3 decades.
