HOLIDAY FUND

With the Holiday Season quickly approaching, we request that you remember and recognize our employees by making a contribution to the Mayacama Holiday Fund. This fund gives you a wonderful opportunity to reward those who have made your Mayacama experience a special one in 2017.

Our combined staff continues to be a major strength of the Club and without their hard work and dedication, we could not provide you with the level of service you have come to expect and deserve. All Mayacama employees will benefit from your generosity excluding the General Manager, Greg Brown, and Jonathan Wilhelm, Managing Partner. The other exception to the holiday fund are the caddies who are contracted through an outside vendor. Monies collected for the Holiday Fund are fairly distributed to all employees based upon their years of service. This includes less visible employees who are diligently working behind the scenes; contributing to smooth operations.

We know our employees will greatly appreciate your generosity as it will contribute to the enjoyment of their Holiday Season. In deciding how much to contribute, our recommendation is $300.

For your convenience, please complete the online form linked to this email which will forward to the Accounting Department. If we do not receive your form or hear from you by December 15, 2017, we will automatically bill your account $300 which will appear at the bottom of your December statement. The success of this program depends upon the participation of each Member.

We are eager to see you around the Club during the coming festive months! On behalf of the entire staff at Mayacama, we wish you and your families the best of the upcoming Holiday Season.

FIRE RELIEF FUND UPDATE

We cannot thank the Membership enough for the outpouring of support and willingness to help those who have been affected. Mayacama has now partnered with the Sonoma County Children's Charities for Fire Relief Efforts and now your donations can successfully be deducted from your taxes.

There will be two options that will allow you to donate:

1. Direct wire-transfer to Exchange Bank - For Instructions CLICK HERE
2. Write a check to Sonoma County Children's Charities and reference "Fire Fund" on your check. You can send this directly to:

C. Edward Turner, CPA
Airport Business Center
414 Aviation Boulevard
Santa Rosa, CA 95403

Please make sure you do not mix donations with your Member payments. This fund is strictly set up to aid in fire relief and Member payments are to be sent separately.

For those of you who already donated directly to Mayacama, please contact Geoff Gomes, our Controller, at [email protected] or by phone (707) 569-2970, to request how to convert that donation to a tax-deductible one.

Please continue to keep everyone in your thoughts and prayers here in Sonoma and Napa counties. Every local citizen knows multiple families who lost homes and worse. We appreciate all your support!

TEMPORARY HOUSING NEEDED

My name is Courtney Rebel and this is my little family; Josiah (husband) and Koa (son, 21 months). I am the Activities Director and Golf Fitness Trainer at Mayacama Golf Club. We are writing this message to help spread the word that we are seeking temporary accommodation, beginning on or around December 1.

We lived off Mark West Road and unfortunately lost our home and all our belongings in the Tubbs Fire. We are so fortunate to have evacuated within 4 minutes of the road closing that evening due to the fire making it impassable. This will definitely be a story we tell our son Koa for years to come!

We are seeking a temporary rental beginning on December 1 while we try to find a more permanent home. Ideally, we would like to find a 1 or 2 bedroom cottage or cabin with a full kitchen. If there is a small yard for Koa to run around in, that is even better!

A little about us…I graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in Kinesiology and met my husband while studying abroad in New Zealand. Josiah is a Kiwi and began his career as a baker and pastry chef. He now owns a landscape design and construction business. We both love to travel the world, enjoy outdoor adventures and meeting new people.

Please let us know if you or anyone you know has a place that might work for us. Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts during this transitional time. We are certain we will rise above this situation more resilient then ever before thanks to our strong community.

MAYACAMA’S ZACH MAKILAN LEADS THE WAY TO VICTORY IN THE NORTH-SOUTH CUP

For the second year in a row, Mayacama’s First Assistant Professional Zach Makilan was named to the Northern California PGA Assistants Cup Team to compete in the North-South Assistants Cup Matches. The annual event pairs 12 top players from the Northern California PGA to compete against their counterparts from the Southern California PGA.

The 2017 Matches were played at Saddle Creek in Copperopolis, California in the NCPGA territory, so it was a “home game” for the North. After having lost The Cup in 2016, the North fell behind by one point in the morning Four-Ball matches, but then dominated the afternoon Foursome (alternate shot) Matches, winning five of the six matches. The two teams split the Single Matches on Day two, giving the North a three point victory and possession of The Cup for the next year.

Players earn their spot on their team through their play in the year-long NCPGA Tournament Series. A Top 10 finish in the Assistant’s Championship at Ruby Hill and another Top 10 in the Pro-Scratch Championship at Berkeley Country Club helped Zach secure his spot on the 2017 team. And his outstanding play coupled with his experience with the Match Play format helped his team seal the victory and The Cup. Zach partnered with Kyle Brannan (La Rinconada Country Club) for a ½ point in their Four-Ball Match and for a victory and 1 point in their Foursome Match over their Southern California opponents. In his Single Match, he secured another ½ point in his match against Chris Lungo (Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club in Laguna Niguel) which ended All Square!

Congratulations to Zach and his team for bringing home The Cup and for representing Mayacama well with his outstanding play!

MAYACAMA CADDIES TAKE SECOND IN
“THE LOOPER CUP”

Bandon Dunes, Oregon - The 3rd Annual Looper Cup was played last month over the four courses at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Bandon, Oregon. Mike Keiser, a former Caddie himself who founded and developed the Bandon Dunes Golf mecca started the Looper Cup as a way of bringing together Caddies from across the country for four days of golf, camaraderie and friendly competition. The 1st Looper Cup was played between Bandon Dune Caddies and the Caddies from Pine Valley. Last year Pebble Beach caddies were included, and in 2017 Mayacama was invited to send 6 of their finest Caddies to round out the four-club match. Each Club has its own selection method to name their team. At Mayacama, we use the qualifying round of “The Bull Cup”, the Annual Caddie Championship of Mayacama Golf Club as the criteria used in selecting our team. The qualifying tournament is an 18 hole stroke play tournament, and was played at Mayacama Golf Club on Tuesday, August 1. The six individuals who qualified to represent Mayacama Golf Club are listed below, along with their qualifying scores:

Sean DeSilva 73
Chase Dossa 73
Danny Maier 74
Ken Gosselin 75
Erik Sweet 75
Eric Fernandez 76

The Third Annual Looper Cup was indeed four days of wonderful competition and all of our Caddies raved about the venue and the hospitality of the host club. And our Boys made us proud…taking all three of their Four-Ball Matches played at Old MacDonald on Day One against Pine Valley! After a sweep of their first round matches and 3 points in hand, the team from the Wine Country managed to salvage only ½ point on Day Two. Pebble Beach took the morning Four-Ball Matches played over Bandon Dunes with 2 ½ points. The lone Mayacama ½ point was secured with a birdie at the last by team Gosselin/Sweet. The afternoon Foursome Matches at Pacific Dunes were dominated by the home team as they took all three matches against us. On the final day’s Single Matches at Bandon Trails, Mayacama earned 4 out of a possible 6 points, good enough to capture second place along with the team from Pebble Beach.

Our Caddies indeed made us proud, especially considering that our Caddie Program (40 Caddies) held their own against the home team of Bandon Dunes (280 Caddies) and Pebble Beach (260 Caddies). Congratulations to all of our Caddies…you continue to make us proud!

MAYACAMA ASSISTANT PROFESSIONAL CHELSA HELGET ELECTED TO MEMBERSHIP IN THE PGA OF AMERICA

Please join us in congratulating Chelsa Helget, who was elected to Membership in the PGA of America. As a Class “A” Member of the PGA of America, Chelsa joins her fellow Mayacama Professionals Zach Makilan and Ted Antonopoulos as Members in one of the world’s largest sports organizations, nearly 29,000 PGA Professionals, who work daily to grow interest and participation in the game of golf.

In addition to Membership in the PGA of America, Chelsa is near completion in her quest to become Mayacama’s first LPGA Member. Both Associations require an intensive Apprenticeship Program involving a work study program in all aspects of the Golf Business including Merchandising, Club Fitting, Management, Tournament Operations, and especially Golf Instruction, all with extensive testing to reflect the Professional’s competence and understanding in each specific area. Chelsa’s contributions in each of these areas, and much more, make her a tremendous asset to our Club and we congratulate her in this great accomplishment of becoming a PGA Member.

FIRE DAMAGE AERIAL PHOTOs

Just a week after the Tubbs Fire devastated parts of Calistoga and Santa Rosa, we took an aerial photograph to survey damage on the Mayacama property. You can see how incredibly lucky we were to survive relatively unscathed. Six weeks later (November 29, 2017) we took another photo, and the contrast between the two is amazing to see. We thought we would share the photos with you to show how much has recovered in a fairly short amount of time.
