DuMOL - Nineteen Years of Excellence
2014 marks the 19th harvest for Dumol. Over these many varied vintages they have thoughtfully assembled an unparalleled collection of vineyard sites that are farmed to their precise specifications. In these vineyards, they work hard to minimize external inputs promoting soil and vine health to produce grapes that allow them to bring distinctive wines to bottle. They believe in wine quality through precise viticulture and reasoned sustainable and organic farming. You will more often find them in the vineyard focusing on original grape quality rather than in the winery trying to find ways to improve finished wines.
Since their first harvest in 1996, they have carefully chosen sites that fully capture their beauty. Their winemaking is intuitive and concentrates on the needs of each wine, employing the least ‘technique’ that is necessary. Their strong stylistic vision is precise, consistent and their driving force…striking their own path, not following trends.
Robert Parker says “I would have to rank DuMol as one of my favorite half dozen producers of California Chardonnay as well as one of the top twenty in terms of Pinot Noir.
While the 2015 vintage has been released, the 2014 Vintage is showing at the top of its game and the better vintage at this time. This is our final offer for 2017 focuses. Enjoy!
THE WINES

2014 “chloe” - 95 points, Robert Parker
The 2014 Chardonnay Chloe gives expressive guava, pink grapefruit and pineapple notes with touches of candied ginger, praline and brioche. Medium to full-bodied with a beautifully oily texture and packed with tropical fruit flavors, it finishes long and toasty.
2014 “clare” - 95 points, Robert Parker
The 2014 Chardonnay Clare has a white peach, preserved lemons and yuzu-scented nose with underlying touches of cedar, buttered toast and shaved almonds. The palate is bold and intensely fruited with a pleasant oiliness, yet it is medium-bodied, finishing long with lovely purity.
2014 “estate vineyard” - 96+ points, Robert Parker
The 2014 Chardonnay Estate Vineyard reveals very pretty notes of peach blossoms and candied ginger over a core of nectarines, acacia honey, baking bread and marzipan. Medium-bodied with a silken texture and wonderful intensity of yeasty/savory flavors, it has a great frame of freshness and epic length. A beautiful, truly elegant style.
2014 “isobel” - 94 points, Robert Parker
The 2014 Chardonnay Isobel Charles Heintz Vineyard has a very earthy/savory nose with notes of fallen leaves and moss over a core of lemon curd and grapefruit peel. The medium-bodied palate has a wonderful intensity of citrus and earthy flavors supported by lively acidity, finishing long with an herbal lift.
2014 Russian River - 92 points, Robert Parker
The 2014 Chardonnay Russian River has a classic baked apricots and apple pie-laced nose with nuances of roasted nuts and buttered toast. Medium to full-bodied and richly fruited, it has a seductive touch of oiliness to the texture and great vitality, finishing a little spicy.
Pinot Noir:
2014 “connor” - 95 points, Robert Parker
Pale ruby-purple in color, the 2014 Pinot Noir Connor opens with alluring potpourri, garrigue and underbrush notes over a core of pomegranate and red currants. Elegantly fruited and medium-bodied, the perfumed red fruit flavors define the palate, supported by harmonious, silky tannins and refreshing acid, finishing softly spoken yet with great resonance.
2014 ‘finn” - 97 points, Robert Parker
Blended of 55% DuMOL Estate vineyard and 45% Occidental Road vineyards, the 2014 Pinot Noir Finn has a pale to medium ruby-purple color and notes of black cherries, black raspberries and anise plus underlying suggestions of yeast, potpourri, underbrush and cedar. Medium to full-bodied with plenty of opulent fruit on offer, it has a seamless backbone of very fine tannins and gorgeous freshness, finishing long and minerally.
2014 “ryan” - 95 points, Robert Parker
Pale to medium ruby-purple colored, the 2014 Pinot Noir Ryan Widdoes Vineyard has a rather subdued, earthy nose of fungi and fallen leaves over red and black cherries and a waft of lavender. The medium to full-bodied palate is built like a brick house with a solid frame of grainy tannins and lively acid holding the muscular fruit together beautifully, and texturing the long, earthy finish.
2014 “estate” - 93 points, Robert Parker
Medium ruby-purple colored, the 2014 Pinot Noir Estate Vineyard offers a youthfully muted nose of red currants and warm cranberries with touches of red roses, bay leaves, chargrill and cinnamon stick. The palate offers lovely purity and richness, with a medium to full-body and good support from chewy tannins, finishing long and lively.
2014 Russian River Valley - 91+ points, Robert Parker
Medium ruby-purple in color, the 2014 Pinot Noir Russian River Valley has a little tar and rubber to begin, giving way to notes of baked cherries, mulberries and cranberry jelly with a dried Provence herbs and forest floor undercurrent. Medium to full-bodied, firm and rich in the mouth, it has a solid frame of chewy tannins and balanced acidity, finishing long. Built to age, it should cellar for a good 8-10 years or more.
