GOLF CAR POLICY & SAFETY TIPS
We would like to take this opportunity to remind our Members of our golf car policy as found in the Membership Guide under Golf Customs.
Golf cars may seem harmless but they are not toys. Golf cars can be very hazardous for children when not operated properly. Most golf car accidents involving children involve passengers being thrown from the golf car due to high speeds and sharp turns. It has also come to our attention that many young people are getting behind the wheel of golf cars and while this may seem like innocent fun, there are risks involved. To protect your family, be sure to follow this policy:
- Golf cars may only be operated by persons sixteen years of age and older, holding a valid automobile driver’s license.
- Driver should read all directions and safety rules posted on the golf car before operating.
- Only operate the golf car with correct number of passengers.
- Driver and passengers must remain seated while the vehicle is moving.
- Obey all vehicle traffic laws and rules of the road.
- Golf cars are not permitted on the course except for persons that are age 65 and over, or those persons with a condition that renders them physically unable to walk the course. A forecaddie will be required for players utilizing a golf car. During wet conditions, golf cars may not be permitted on the course for safety reasons and to avoid damaging the turf.
We have asked our guest services and outside services to assist in enforcing this policy. Violations to this important rule will result in Member suspension. Please keep in mind, our main concern is for the safety of our Mayacama families and young children. If you have any questions, please let us know. Thank you for your cooperation.
