Summertime at Mayacama!

Summer has finally arrived and Mayacama is your place to host family and friends! We kick off the month of July with a pair of Holiday BBQ's on the fourth followed by our Sip N' Swing & Dinner! The 4th of July Pool BBQ is great for the whole family, with exciting kids activities including science experiments, water balloons and a magic show!

Be sure not to miss the Husband-Wife Championship the following Sunday with a Junior Golf Bootcamp and the Parent-Child Tournament later in the month.

In addition to the 4th of July activities, we have a bunch of exciting kids events, including the first-ever Mini-Mudder Race & Kids' Camp with fun obstacles and a drive-in movie night featuring the Disney movie Coco! We look forward to a great Summer here at Mayacama and hope to see you soon!

SIP N' SWING & DINNER
FRIDAY, JULY 6
4PM - 8:30PM

Join us for this fun, casual golf event which is open to Social Members and guests too. Our Sip N' Swing event begins with a 4:00 pm shotgun start, followed by a dinner buffet on the Dining Room Terrace. The format for this event is a six-person, 9-hole scramble. Make your own team of six or sign up individually and we will pair you with a group. Participants will enjoy a specialty cocktail and sip summer wines on some of the holes. Even if you aren't able to play in the Sip N' Swing, make plans to meet up with the players and enjoy a fun dinner with your fellow Members.

Kids' Camp: Mini-Mudder Training

Mayacama's first Mini Mudder Camp will prepare you for the fun and muddy Mini Mudder event on Saturday, July 14. This unique camp is designed for adventure-seeking kids looking to experience something new, get muddy and enjoy the thrill of adventure. Campers will build parts of the course and practice the obstacles to master the event. In addition to the Muddy fun, we will also have yoga classes, fitness classes, make your own smoothies and learn simple (and fun) Wellness tips.

MINI-MUDDER RACE
SATURDAY, JULY 14

This “Kids Only” Mini Mudder Race will be a blast for the entire family. Your parents can cheer you on as you run through mud pits, meander through a giant spider web, climb over walls and jump through tires. This unique course and event gives kids the chance to experience something new, get muddy, and enjoy the thrill of adventure.

KIDS' EVENT: DRIVE-IN MOVIE - COCO

Lounge in a golf car or on the grass at the Driving Range for a big screen movie with the family. We will be watching the Disney movie Coco which has won multiple awards including an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Grab your blankets and pillows! We will provide snacks and drinks for an outdoor movie theater experience.

Tennis clinics for the kids will be available from Mayacama Tennis Pro Luke Chiurco in the mornings before the Junior Golf Bootcamp, so make sure to sign your kids up for a little tennis before they hit the course!

PGA Jr. League Update

Our Inaugural PGA Jr. League Match took place on Sunday, June 10th against The Fountaingrove Club! It was great to see the kids work together in this 2-person scramble format. We had 10 of our 12 Team Members present to contribute to the team’s success! We then hosted Santa Rosa Golf & Country Club on Sunday, June 24 for our next match. The age and size of the Santa Rosa team proved to be in their advantage as they played great! We strongly suggest you make it out to cheer on our PGA Jr. League Team at one of our upcoming Matches.

Husband & Wife Club Championships

There is still time to register! Mayacama Golf Club cordially invites you to compete in the 16th Annual Husband-Wife Club Championships.

Championship Format: Chapman Stroke Play – 18 Holes. In Chapman Stroke Play, two players play as partners each playing from the teeing ground and each playing their partner’s ball for the second shot. After the second shot, the partners select the ball with which they wish to score, and play that ball alternately to complete the hole.

Junior Golf Boot Camp

Wednesday – Friday
July 25-27

All Mayacama Juniors are invited to join Mayacama Instructors, Ted Antonopoulos, Zach Makilan, Chelsa Helget and Hayden Stratton for a three-day golf school, boot camp style! Training is open to all children ages 5 - 10. After basic calisthenics each day, Juniors will learn full swing, putting, chipping and pitching techniques, along with golf etiquette and rules of golf. The last day of the camp will include the Putting Championship and 5-Hole Scramble Tournament, followed by an Awards Luncheon for cadets and their parents. Open to the first 30 cadets who sign up.

Parent-Child Tournament

Mayacama Golf Club cordially invites you to participate in the 6th annual Parent-Child golf tournament. The spirit of the Parent-Child is to bring family members together by providing a fun golf experience that will be memorable for all participants and to introduce new and young golfers to competitive golf. Teams shall consist of any parent-child combination such as Father-Son or Daughter, Mother-Daughter or Son, Grandparent-Grandchild. There will be two tournament Divisions, 18 Hole and 9 Hole.

18-HOLE DIVISION FORMAT
Chapman Stroke Play. In Chapman Stroke Play, two players play as partners, each playing from the teeing ground and each playing their partners ball for the second shot. After the second shot, partners select the ball with which they wish to score, and play that ball alternately to complete the hole.

9-HOLE DIVISION FORMAT
Modified Alternate Shot. Each person will tee off and the best drive is selected. After the partners have selected the drive with which they wish to score, they shall play the ball alternately to complete the hole.

18-HOLE DIVISION HANDICAP INFORMATION
The Tournament Committee will be using your current USGA Handicap Index as of July 15, 2017. Maximum Course Handicap Allowance is 24 strokes for men and 36 strokes for women. In Chapman Stroke Play, the partner with the lower Course Handicap is allowed 60% of his/her Course Handicap. The partner with the higher Course Handicap is allowed 40% of his/her Course Handicap. Add the percentages together before rounding, and then round off the total with .5 or more rounded upward. This will determine the “Team Handicap”.

9-HOLE DIVISION HANDICAP INFORMATION
With the likelihood of new players competing for the first time and without established handicaps, this division will be played without handicaps. The 9-hole Division is about getting new golfers on the golf course and having fun.

Registration must be made through the Foretees App or in person at the Golf Shop. Telephone and verbal entries will NOT BE ACCEPTED.

VILLA CONSTRUCTION

Construction of the four additional Villas has been moving along rapidly! You can expect to see stucco on these units in the coming weeks and we still anticipate the first of four Villas to be available by Fall 2018.
