Beat the Pro!
Thursday, July 4 | All Day

Your Professional Staff loves to play golf, and we’re challenging you, the Mayacama Members, to take us on for an Independence Day Challenge…Beat The Pro! We’re heading out to the Golf Course to play an early morning 18-hole Scramble on the Fourth of July and will post our score for all to see. Pick your team of four players and see if you can beat us. Bet you can’t…to the tune of $25 per player!

Here’s our deal…

Hayden and Zach play the Back Tees

Teddy plays the Middle

Chelsa plays the Women’s Back

Each person tees off. Best drive is selected and all play from there and so on, until the ball is holed. Each person’s drive must be used a minimum of two times. You can sign up by calling the Golf Shop or just come out and tell us that you’ve got a team and give us your $25 per player.

Entry Fee: $25 per player Split among any team(s) that beat our score, though that is highly unlikely! Are you up for the challenge? We are!

Call the Golf Shop for more information at 707.569.2915.

Sip N' Swing: Beat the Pro!
Friday, July 5 | 4PM Shotgun

Join us for our fun, casual golf event which is open to Social Members and guests too! Our Sip N' Swing event begins with a 4:00 pm shotgun start, followed by a dinner buffet on the Dining Room Terrace. The format for this event is a six-person, 9-hole scramble with a twist…a Beat The Pro format! Your 9-hole score will be matched against the 9-hole score posted by your Professional Staff. There will be some fun “Special Rules” on each hole to make it interesting, and of course your chances of beating The Pro area great since there are six of you vs. four Professionals! You can make up your own team of six players, or sign up individually and we will pair you with a group. Participants will enjoy cold beer and sip summer wines at stations on three of the nine holes.

Even if you aren't able to play in the Sip N' Swing, make plans to meet up with the players and enjoy a fun dinner with your fellow Members.

The Member-Member Results

Women’s Flight Champions – Lisa French & Peggy Matsuda 116
First Flight Champions – Armando Anido & Russell Kinnier 32
Second Flight Champions – John Jack & Gabe Donohoe 33
Third Flight Champions – Dwight Haldan & Neil Foster 33 1/2

Women’s Flight Runners-Up – Mayumi Post & Malin Giddings 110
First Flight Runners-Up – Stephen Wright & Mike Feeney 30
Second Flight Runners-Up – Paul Balatti & Rusell Ingrum 30 1/2
Third Flight Runners-Up – Karl May & Jim Silveira 28 1/2

Four Flights of Members enjoyed the new format in this year’s Mayacama Member-Member.

For the Men’s Flights, the flights were made up of 6 two-man teams, and each team played one nine-hole match against every team in their flight. The goal is to win as many holes over the five 9-hole matches. But this year, we added Foursome (Alternate Shot) and Single Matches to the mix. So on Day One, Match Number One was a Four-Ball Match (better ball of two), followed by a Foursome (Alternate Shot) Match and finally another Four-Ball Match. Members loved inserting the Foursome Match into the mix, especially since it took less than two hours to complete! Day Two Matches began with another Four-Ball Match and the fifth and final Match ended with two Singles Matches, where twice the number of points were available. This made it particularly exciting since teams could rise out of the mix and play their way back into contention for the title.

The Women’s Flight consisted of 7 teams and while they also player Four-Ball, Foursome and Singles, their format was Stroke Play using the Stableford Point System … same as the Women’s Member-Guest.

All Flight Winners competed in a 4-hole Alternate Shot “Shoot’Out” to determine the Overall Champion. First team eliminated was the Third Flight Champions Dwight Haldan and Neil Foster on the first hole, the par three 11th. The three remaining teams went to the 12th and the Women’s Flight, unfortunately, went down on that hole for the second year in a row when. The Second Flight advanced to the final hole with a par while Peggy Matsuda and Lisa French of the Women’s Flight lost out in a “chip-off” with the winners of the First Flight. Down to two teams, The First Flight team of Russell Kinnier and Armando Anido made par on the 18th, the final hole of the Shoot-Out and advanced over Gabe Donohoe and John Jack.

In addition to the revised format, we also added a Vintner Pour type reception on Friday evening. Chef Pikey created some new and tasteful selections that were complimented by Wines poured by Allen Wines, Black Kite Cellars, Fisher Vineyards and Stuhlmuller.

Our Member Member is a celebration of our Club and you … our Members, and we hope to have more of you come and experience the event and meet new and old Members alike with some friendly competition, great food and great wine!
