Mayacama Cup Match Play Championships Results

One of two "Majors," the Mayacama Cup is a coveted Championship to win at Mayacama.

Winning the Men's Mayacama Flight requires five days of solid golf, a tall order completed by Mike Feeney, who defeated Eric Schwartz in the final match. In many ways, their match was reminiscent of fond memories playing against each other in the Mayacama Traveling Cup.

The Ladies' Flight saw three days of play featuring seven veterans to our Championships. In the finals, Karen Valliere faced Lisa French in a duel that went 17 holes. In the end, Karen Valliere rose to win her first "Mayacama Major."

The Men's Championship Flight created yet another first-time "Major Champion," Stephen Ensley. Stephen is no stranger to pressure scenarios in our Championships, finding himself in a playoff in last year's Stroke Play Championship.

Congratulations to this year's Match Play Champions!

The Member-Member Results

This year's highly anticipated Member-Member Tournament saw 45 teams (a record 90 players) duel to become top-dog in their respective flights. While some teams created a "buffer" after day one's matches, performing well in the fifth-round singles matches created significant swings for many groups.

Saturday afternoon's Shoot-Out was composed of eight Member teams, surrounded by plenty of Mayacama spectators. While some teams took off on a hot start, nothing was guaranteed as some found themselves in a chip-off by the second hole.

Consistent play and clutch short game shots left two teams standing on the 18th hole. Team "Wright" (Mike & Stephen Wright) faced off against another power-duo...Malin Giddings & Lisa French.

A tie on the 18th forced one last chip-off from a location most are all too familiar with: a tight fairway lie requiring a high, soft shot to a tough hole location.

First to play was Lisa French applying pressure with a well-executed shot within three feet of the hole! Attempting to best the shot, Stephen finessed his shot to a spot that would have won most playoffs...but just outside that of Malin Giddings and Lisa French!

Congratulations to this year's Member-Member Champions, Malin Giddings & Lisa French. We are proud to have you as our first Women's Team to win the Mayacama Member-Member!

Senior Club Championships Results

Congratulations to our 2021 Senior Champion, Mark Martin! His total score of 145 won the Championship by a margin of seven strokes over our field of 27 players. The Mayacama Flight was a bit closer, with Robert Valliere claiming a 2-stroke margin of victory over Ignacio del Rio.

Our Super Senior Champion is Rick Herbert with a score of 158. Thirty-six holes weren't quite enough for our Super Senior Champion in the Mayacama Flight, where John Reininga defeated Mike Wright in a hole-by-hole playoff to claim the Super Senior Champion for the Maycama Flight.

The Husband-Wife Results

Congratulations to the Kangs, who successfully defended their title at this year's Husband & Wife Club Championship! Jason and Jae Jean combined for an even-par round of 72 strokes in the fun and engaging Chapman Stroke Play format.

We had a four-team playoff to determine our Champions of the Mayacama Flight. The low net score of 66 was shared between the Herberts, the Ingrums, the Frenchs, and the Krystofiaks. Four teams competed in the Chapman format, making for an exciting finish. Martha Herbert clinched the Championship by rolling in a birdie putt from five feet, 20 years after winning the inaugural Championship in 2001.
