With summer weather upon us, it is the perfect time to plan your next trip up to the Club! We have some really exciting and new events on the horizon including the first ever Mayacama 5K Run & Kids Dash. Picture running, or walking, through the oak studded hills of Mayacama and crossing the finish line at the Clubhouse with other Members and family to cheer you on! As a friendly reminder, a 5K is roughly 3.1 miles and should take anywhere from 30-45 minutes to complete. This 5K is sure to be a good time for Members and their families – all ages welcome!

Also make sure to sign-up your children for some of the exciting events that are happening this month; the Junior Golf School as well as the Kids' Camp: Experience Mayacama which is sure to be a fun week for the kids! We'll see you at the Club soon!

We are anticipating a strong year at the pool with high usage especially on weekends and in order to ensure all Members and Guests are able to enjoy the facilities at all times, we are asking for your cooperation in the following changes to our operations:

1. All Members and Guests will be asked by a Mayacama staffer for their name or sponsor’s name so we may track usage.
   
   
2. Cabanas may no longer be reserved or “saved.” In other words, members and guests must be present to use them. Leaving towels and personal belongings on the lounges inside of the cabanas and then departing the pool area is not permissible.
   
   
3. Pool Parties: If you are interested in hosting a party at the pool, please contact Rebekah Reynoso at [email protected] or at (707)569-2921. Please be advised we are not able to host private parties on Saturdays or Sundays. This ensures equal access to the furnishings, especially during busy weekends. The maximum number of attendees you may bring to a private party, including both minors and adults, cannot exceed 25. Anyone booking a private party that includes minors must hire a lifeguard for the entire duration of your party, regardless of party size. (Mayacama can provide contact info for a lifeguard, upon request.) A site fee will apply and usage of one cabana will be allowed.
   
   
4. Please refrain from the use of personal speaker systems (which will compete with the Club’s sound system) at the pool at all times.
   
   
5. All food and beverages consumed at the Mayacama pool must be provided by Mayacama. Please refrain from bringing in your personal coolers.
   
   
6. The pool is open from 8am - 8pm and is closed on Tuesdays.

Please remember the pool is a Club asset to be enjoyed by all! We appreciate your assistance in adhering to these new rules.

During “Experience Mayacama”, campers will go behind the scenes and learn the ins and outs of the Club! Sporting activities will include group golf lessons with the Mayacama Golf Professionals, tennis lessons with Luke Chiurco and group swim instruction. Campers will experience the secrets of the kitchen, expansiveness of the cart barn, tour the maintenance building and more! Adventures will include cooking with Chef Scott, exploring the beautiful trail on property and many other surprises. Of course, we will cool off at the Mayacama pool during the hot summer days. This camp is a “one and only” experience of the best that Mayacama has to offer!

Join us for this fun, casual golf event which is open to Social Members and guests too. Our Sip N' Swing event begins with a 4:00 pm shotgun start, followed by a dinner buffet on the Dining Room Terrace. The format for this event is a six-person, 9-hole scramble. Make your own team of six or sign up individually and we will pair you with a group. Participants will enjoy a specialty cocktail and sip summer wines on some of the holes. Even if you aren't able to play in the Sip N' Swing, make plans to meet up with the players and enjoy a fun dinner with your fellow Members.

The 2018 Mayacama Cup was a great success! Thank you to all who participated! We were blessed with great weather and the golf course was in absolutely perfect condition for our annual Championship. It is always a battle on the golf course with the Match Play format and we saw some great golf this past weekend. Junior Golf League

We are excited for the inaugural season of the Mayacama PGA Jr. League! Our team roster includes the following juniors: Boden and Elsa Anderson, Henry and Kate Barker, Brooks Butler, Sophie Friedlander, Asher Greenfield, William Murray, Landon Richardson and Grant Wilhelm. There are four teams in our league including The Fountaingrove Club, Santa Rosa Golf & Country Club and Windsor Golf Club.

A game is played between two teams. During the course of a game, four matches are played by at least two players from each team against each other. The winner of the game is determined by the total number of points won within all matches. Friends, family, and spectators are encouraged to attend and watch – but not participate or aide – each game! During the course of one game, teams play four 9-hole matches in a popular two-person scramble format, reinforcing the team concept and creating a nurturing environment for learning the game. Coaches can substitute players every three holes, so that all of the golfers on each team can participate. Flags are 3-hole segments of each match. Since each match is played over the course of 9 holes, there are three flags per match. Whichever team wins the most holes within each flag, wins the corresponding flag. We look forward to our first season and are proud of our juniors for signing up to represent Mayacama Golf Club.

Format
Boys and girls will compete in separate divisions in five age categories: 5-6 years old; 7-9 years old; 10-11 years old; 12-13 years old; and 14-15 years old.

Driving
40-yard wide fairway - a shot must finish in the fairway to score points. Flags marking both sides of the fairway at 25-yard increments. A ball coming to rest on any of the boundary lines is considered in bounds. A ball coming to rest on any of the scoring lines will be scored in the longer of the two scoring grids. In the event of a tie the contestant's third drive will serve as a tie breaker (followed by second and first if necessary). If a tie still exists, co - champions of the skill will be declared.

Chipping
Each participant will attempt three 10-15 yard shots at the scoring hole. All shots will be measured from the center of the hole with clearly marked scoring rings.

A ball coming to rest on any of the scoring lines will be scored in the higher of the two point rings. In the event of a tie the contestant’s third chip will serve as a tie breaker (followed by second and first if necessary). If a tie still exists co-champions of the skill will be declared.

Putting
Each participant will attempt one putt from each distance (6 feet, 15 feet and 30 feet). Putts will be measured from the center of the hole with clearly marked scoring rings.

A ball coming to rest on any of the scoring lines will be scored in the higher of the two point rings. In the event of a tie the contestant’s third putt will serve as a tie breaker (followed by second and first if necessary). If a tie still exists co-champions of the skill will be declared.

You are cordially invited to participate in the Mayacama Member-Member Four-Ball Match Play Tournament on Friday and Saturday, June 29 & 30. For the 2018 Member-Member, we will continue with the 9-hole Match Play format. This is a great way to meet your fellow Members and enjoy playing 5 nine-hole matches with everyone in your flight. There will be lots to celebrate in the Member-Member...food, wine, prizes, and getting together with your fellow Members to enjoy a fun and exciting better-ball match play tournament. Please take a look at the format below and feel free to call a member of your Professional Staff if you have any questions regarding this great tournament. We hope to see you there!

FORMAT

The format is Four-Ball Match Play (Better-Ball-of-Two) using 100% of your Course Handicap. Five 9-hole matches will be played within each flight. Scoring for these matches will be based on the following point system.

Hole Won: 1 point
Hole Halved: ½ point
Maximum Points per 9-hole Match: 7 points

The team accumulating the highest point total in each flight will be the Flight Winner. Flights: The field will be divided into Flights based on the number of entries. The combined Course Handicaps of the two team Members will determine which flight the team will be assigned. Each Flight will consist of six teams. Play will be from the following tee markers:

Men – Middle Tee Markers
Women – Forward Tee Markers

Entry Fee: The entry fee for this Tournament is $350 per player and includes all tournament prizes, your commemorative welcome gift, and all meals and functions listed on the Schedule of Events. Entry Closing: All registrations must be received no later than 5:00 pm on Monday, June 25, 2018.

Assistant Wine Director, Tony Giangreco ReCEIves 2nd Level Sommelier Certification

Our Assistant Wine Director, Tony Giangreco traveled to San Diego in March to take his second-level Certified Sommelier exam from the Court of Master Sommeliers and successfully passed the exam! We are incredibly excited to congratulate Tony on his accomplishment and look forward to the value he continues to bring to the Wine Program at Mayacama along with Wine Director Jeff McCarthy.
