We are lucky to receive, for the fourth year in a row, the Lail Vineyards J Daniel Cuvee.
Robert Parker says; “With a viticultural legacy dating back to the late 1800s and proprietress Robin Lail’s great grand-uncle Gustave Niebaum, the founder of Inglenook Vineyards, there is a lot of history in the Lail family. The wines continue on a very strong qualitative streak. Their top wine, J Daniel Cuvee, is world class quality.”
The barrel sample of the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon J. Daniel Cuvee (100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the identical sources) exhibits beautiful sweet tannin loads of charcoal, a full bodied flavor profile of blue and black fruits, softer tannins, and a more open knit up-front appeal than past vintages. In keeping with this this vintage character, the wine is very showy, charming and should drink beautifully evolving gracefully for at least two decades.
Please note that it is not uncommon for Parker to raise a score once the wine is bottled with a bit of age. In 2012, this wine was one of the three Robert Parker wines of the year with a perfect score. The 2014 vintage, from a barrel sample, was given 95-97 points by Robert Parker.
