Grand Reopening Tournament & Reception

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Members who attended the Grand Reopening Golf Tournament and Dinner Reception on Saturday, February 25. 72 players enjoyed the competition and prizes as we celebrated our new greens, not to mention the new bunkers and the new back-nine teeing grounds! The day was a celebration to thank the membership for their tremendous support over the past year. A special thank you to Dale Engman and his staff for the amazing work his team performed in order to get all 18 holes back open for this coming year. The end result of the renovation project is nothing short of spectacular. Those who have expereienced the new greens and teeing surafaces would agree. On behalf of the entire Mayacama staff we thank you and look forward to seeing you at the Club.

PGA Leadership Club to Meet at Mayacama

We’re excited to announce that Mayacama Golf Club will be the site for the Annual Meeting of the PGA Leadership Club, March 5-7 2017. The Leadership Club is by invitation only and consists of a select group of PGA Members who are Head Professionals and General Managers from elite clubs from around the USA. The group meets annually to discuss the trends and challenges that face our Clubs in today’s market place. We’re honored to have this select group visit us at Mayacama.

Mayacama to Host AJGA's Wyndham Cup

We’re pleased to announce that Mayacama Golf Club will be the host venue for the AJGA’s Wyndham Cup in July. The Wyndham Cup features two teams of Juniors in an East vs. West Match Play competition. Each side will feature the Top 10 Boys and Top 10 Girls in Junior Golf and will play Four-Ball, Foursome and Single Matches. Over the years, The Wyndham Cup has criss-crossed the Mississippi River to such courses at Lake Nona, The Honors Course, Caves Valley, Forest Highlands, The Stanwich Club, and now Mayacama. And The Wyndham Cup features tomorrows LPGA and PGA Tour stars … indeed past participants include Jordan Spieth, Paula Creamer, Tiger Woods, Brittany Lincicome, Phil Mickleson and Morgan Pressel just to name a few! And Mayacama Members will have the opportunity to play with one of the Juniors in a unique “Junior-Am” competition on July 4th!

Women's traveling cup - bandon dunes 2017!

Come participate in the Sixth Playing of The Women’s Traveling Cup at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort! Join your fellow Members and your Mayacama Golf Professionals Andrew Black and Chelsa Helget for four rounds of golf at America’s Number one Golf Resort. Players will stay on-site in the Chrome Lake Lofts and enjoy the four courses at Bandon Dunes Resort … Bandon Trails, Bandon Dunes, Old MacDonald, and Pacific Dunes. All four of the venues at Bandon Dunes are listed in Golf Digest’s Top 100 Courses in America, with Pacific Dunes and Bandon Dunes having the distinction of being listed in GOLF Magazine’s Top 100 in The World at Nos. 21 and 64 respectively.  Over the years, The Women’s Traveling Cup has been a great way to travel with your fellow Members, meet new friends, and play some of the world’s finest golf courses. And Bandon Dunes Golf Resort will be no exception. The dates are August 3 – 8, and interested Members should kindly contact the Golf Shop for more information. 

women's home & home - brentwood country club

Another great playing opportunity for Mayacama Women … The Home & Home with Brentwood Country Club (Los Angeles). Mayacama Member (and Brentwood Member) Liz Reego will be bringing 7 of her friends up to Mayacama for a friendly game with 8 of our Mayacama Members. Dates are May 31 – June 2. Formats for the three rounds are being considered, with the emphasis on fun, camaraderie and some great food & wine (of course). Anyone interested should contact the Golf Shop for more information. Entries will be accepted on a first come-first serve basis, and all persons playing in the “home portion” of the event will have the first opportunity to join the “away” portion at Brentwood later in the year.

Wine tours

Spending a day wine tasting is both educational and fun. Our local wine country is as diverse as it is beautiful. Our wines are world renown and our hospitality second to none.

We will help you create a day at our recommended wineries for your enjoyment. The wineries will be grouped by appellation to help you plan your tour efficiently. We recommend that you check out each winery’s website prior to your visit. You may find they are hosting a special event, making your visit even more memorable.

Most of the wineries will offer special tours, tastings or food and wine experiences with prior reservations.  Drop-in tastings are welcome but usually limited to the tasting bar. Almost all wineries charge for a tasting, but many will refund the tasting fees if you purchase wine. You can have them ship your wine or bring it back to the Club and let us ship it for you (at prevailing rates).

We recommend that you limit your tasting to 2 to 4 wineries per day and use a designated driver for their expertise and knowledge of our wine country…..also for your safety. Our concierge will book tours for our Members and guests but tours booked by our Wine Director are for Mayacama Members and their accompanying guests only and will require a driver hired through the club. Our drivers have been personally trained and have relationships with our winery partners.

The towns of Healdsburg, Windsor, Graton, Forestville, Geyserville, Calistoga, St. Helena, Oakville, Napa and Yountville all feature outstanding restaurants, galleries, and tasting bars. We can also supply a picnic at a reasonable charge and some wineries have lunches available. Please note that if you do use a winery for your picnic, you must only consume alcoholic beverages purchased at that specific winery.

We hope you enjoy your time in the wine country. If you are interested in a customized Mayacama Wine Tour, please reach out to Loreen or Angie at our concierge desk.  They will be happy to help you plan your reservation.  We will need at least a week in advance to create a memorable day.  Charges for cancellations or no shows may apply.

March 11th: Miner Family Winery Dinner:
Dave Miner will be here from 6:00-9:30pm hosting our Miner Family Winery dinner. Dave and his team produce wines from great regions around Northern California. His Oracle is a popular red blend from famous Stagecoach Vineyard in the hills above eastern Napa.  We will start the night off tasting of his Viognier in the living room at 6:00pm and the dinner will begin promptly at 6:30pm. March 25th: Cru Beaujolais Dinner
It’s always fun to host a dinner with wine and cuisine from Burgandy.  Cru Beaujolais, the highest category of classification in Beaujolais, within ten villages/areas in the foothills of the Beaujolais Mountains. We will feature five of the ten Crus.  Seven of the Crus relate to actual villages while Brouilly and Côte de Brouilly refer to the vineyards areas around Mont Brouilly and Moulin-à-Vent is named for a local windmill.  Somms all over the U.S. are touting Cru Beaujolais. Chef Scott Pikey will pair the wines with typical Burgundian cuisine.  The dinner is 6:30-9:30pm. April 8th: Vineyard 7&8 Dinner
Vineyard 7&8 sits at the top of Spring Mountain.  Their vineyards, which lie above the fog, are late ripening with low yields, natural drainage, and infertile volcanic soil. These unique conditions add to the distinctive quality of their wines which is unlike any other appellation.
Their facility allows them to micromanage the entire process, beginning in the vineyards and ending with the consumer.  Owner and associate winemaker Wes Steffens will host the dinner. The dinner is 6:30-9:30pm. Click HERE to register.

May 12th and 13th:  Draw Party and All Vintner Pour
This event is recognized as the best party in the business and this year promises to be another exciting event.  Our Vintner Members will be featuring their exceptional vintages.  In addition, the Vintner Cup is back as the course will be perfect.

June: Burgundy Trip
I am currently working on a trip to Paris and Beaune for our members.  Details are still being hammered out.  Please contact me if you are interested in attending so I can share details.  The dates will most likely be in the second half of the month.

Sonoma County Airport

On February 16th, Sonoma County Airport and American Airlines began new daily non stop flights to Phoenix, AZ. Less than two hours each way, the flights will arrive in Sonoma County (Santa Rosa, CA, just a short drive from Mayacama) at 12:14pm and depart daily at 12:45pm from STS to PHX. Flights into Phoenix Sky Harbor gives easy, convenient connectivity to several eastbound and Mexico destinations.
