Sound familiar? It’s a scenario that rarely happens, yet that’s the comment that we typically get when a round of golf takes longer than it should.
We’ve done the research, and our target of 18 holes in 4:20 for four players walking is easily within reason. Caddies should definitely add and not detract from this goal. We also strive for all rounds to be played without interruption, which is why we do not employ the use of a “Course Ranger,” “Marshal,” or “Player Assistance” person.
Instead, we rely on our Members to take responsibility and play without delay! And beginning this Fall, we will be introducing a new piece of technology from a company called “TagMarshal” that will help us monitor your pace of play and maintain a healthy flow of play on the course.
Through this program, a small GPS device will be clipped onto the golf bag of one player per group by your Caddie or a member of our Outside Services Team as you head to the first tee. The device will be collected at the completion of your round and will provide us with real-time group positions relative to time-par as well as retain a database of round completion times for all Members and Guests.
We appreciate your support of this program so that we can accurately track play on the Golf Course and provide you with the best possible pace of play. Walking and playing at a brisk pace will make the game more enjoyable for all of us, and we thank you for supporting our culture here at Mayacama.
