ERIC LYON JOINS MAYACAMA

We are very pleased to welcome Eric Lyon who has joined Mayacama as the new Director of Real Estate Sales, replacing Debbie Edgerton who recently moved to Kauai, Hawaii. For almost 20 years Eric has been one of the most well known and respected names in real estate in both Vail and Aspen, Colorado. Eric lead the marketing and sales efforts for many of Colorado’s most successful projects including the Ritz-Carlton Hotel & Club located at the base of Bachelor Gulch Mountain, adjacent to Beaver Creek, Colorado, the Sebastian Hotel & Club in Vail Village and the Dancing Bear, a luxury resort located in the heart of downtown Aspen. Prior to Eric’s move to Mayacama, Eric launched his own real estate firm, Vail Real Estate Group which became the exclusive real estate brokerage for the Club at Cordillera.

“I have worked with hundreds of wonderful families throughout the years,” Lyon said, “to help them discover luxury real estate from a fractional, second home or permanent ownership perspective. I don't consider myself a ‘tour guide,’ but rather an engaged real estate sales professional who knows how to unite exceptional properties with exceptional people.” When not selling real estate, playing golf or watching his 13-year-old daughter participate in Club volleyball, Lyon continues to challenge himself by training and competing in Ironman triathlons.

Feel free to contact Eric at elyon@mayacama.com or please stop by our sales office for a personal introduction.

CLUB REMINDERS

It has come to our attention that, while dining at the Bar & Grill, some parents are allowing their children to play in the bunkers on the 18th green. This is not permitted for safety reasons and also for the maintenance of the bunker. It is understandable that children do not enjoy long meals and prefer to move around and play but for the enjoyment of all, we ask that children divert their energy to games and fun in the Kids' Play Room. On all occasions we ask parents to help their young people to remember the importance of respect and good manners for people and property. Children running through the Clubhouse, jumping on furniture, or disturbing fellow Members with loud noises and screaming is unacceptable. Please be assured that we want all Members to have fun, while at the same time remembering this is a gathering place for all.

For information on scheduled Kids' Nights, activities, or childcare, please contact our Activities Director, Melinda Murray at mmurray@mayacama.com or 707 569 2908.

2015 WOMEN'S MEMBER-GUEST

LARGEST EVER COMPETES FOR COVETED WOMEN'S MEMBER-GUEST FIRST PRIZE!

September 10 & 11: Forty Eight players gathered for the largest field in the  15 year history of the Mayacama Women’s Member-Guest Championship, but history repeated itself when 2014 Member-Guest Champions Emily Scott Pottruck and Doreen Justice successfully defended their title as the Overall Champions in the Fifteenth Playing of the Women’s Member-Guest Champions.

The event kicked off with a practice round and informal “Skins Game” on Thursday afternoon, followed by a Player Reception complete with Welcome Tee Gifts, Special Contests, and Trunk Shows.

For Friday’s tournament round, the forty-eight player field was divided into four flights according to the combined team handicaps of the two person teams (one Member and one Guest). They played a better-ball of two Stableford format, which awards points based on a fixed score (1 point for net bogey, 2 points for net par, 3 for net birdie and so on) and the team with the highest point total for the 18 hole round claims the overall title. Team Scott Pottruck and Justice bested the field with an 18-hole point total of 49 points, falling just one point short of their 2014 total of 50 points. Trophies were awarded to all Flight Winners and each Runner-up team received a golf shop credit.

OVERALL CHAMPIONS: EMILY SCOTT POTTRUCK & DOREEN JUSTICE 49

Congratulations to all of the players, many of whom competed for the first time in the Women’s Member-Guest. And a special congratulations to the Champions and Runners-up of the Fifteenth Playing of the Women’s Member-Guest!

2015 MEN'S MEMBER-GUEST

ROSE & DALTON SURVIVE SHOOT-OUT AND CLAIM MEN'S MEMBER-GUEST OVER CHAMPIONS TITLE!

September 23 – 26: A full field of 120 players vied for the title of Overall Champions in the Fifteenth Playing of the Men’s Member-Guest, and Mayacama Member Jack Rose and Guest Wes Dalton of California Golf Club are your 2015 Champions!

A full field of 60 teams, playing in ten flights of six teams per flight were on hand to play five nine-hole matches using the Four-Ball Match Play (better-ball of two) Format. Teams receive points for each hole won in their five matches, and the team accumulating the most points within their flight wins their flight. The ten flight winners then compete in a 4-hole “Shoot-Out” to determine the Overall Men’s Member-Guest Champion. The Shoot-Out Format is Foursome Stroke Play (Alternate Shot) played on Holes 10, 11, 12, & 18. Teams with the highest scores are eliminated along the way, ultimately leaving two teams to play the 18th Hole to decide the title.  This year’s Shoot-Out saw the team of Harley Williams and Guest Brian Hull (Martis Camp) face-off against Rose and Dalton (a former Cal Quarterback). When Williams’ tee-shot found the hazard on the eighteenth, Rose and Dalton played the conservative route and carded a par and claimed the title as the Overall Champions of the Fifteenth Playing of the Men’s Member-Guest.

It was a great four days of golf and camaraderie among the sixty Members and their Guests, from Clubs hailing from over 24 States, making this a truly national event. Congratulations to all of the Flight Winners and Runners-up, and thanks to the 120 players who competed...we had a ball!
