Wines, like people, are a reflection of their origin and evolution. By selecting three different vineyards with three different expressions of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, the Debate seeks to point out the diversity of terroir that is shown in each of these wines. The Debate defines the notion of terroir as the interaction of a climate, soil and a plant in a unique location. Vines, like people, develop character from its surroundings and upbringing. Each of these wines will possess their own personality and reflect the different facets of its place in the world.

Deep inky-purple colored, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard reveals a beautiful, floral nose of violets and potpourri wafting over the expressive core of crushed blackcurrants, black cherries, and blackberries plus hints of pencil lead, tree bark, Chinese five-spice and Sichuan pepper. The palate is simply mind-blowing, offering this incredible intensity, depth of black fruit and spicy flavors in a wonderfully elegant medium to a full-bodied palate, with exquisitely fine tannins to frame and bags of freshness on the finish. This is a truly impressive Cab!

Very deep garnet-purple in color, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper is youthfully mute, offering glimpses at fresh blueberries, red and black plums and mulberries with hints of underbrush, loam, cedar, and cardamom plus a touch of dark chocolate. The palate is wonderfully intense and elegant, revealing fresh berry and earth layers that are superbly supported by very ripe, fine tannins and the right amount of freshness, finishing long with mineral nuances.

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard sports a deep garnet-purple color and earthy/broody nose of blackberry preserves, beef drippings, charcoal, and plum pudding plus hints of forest floor, cedar box, and stewed tea. Big, full-bodied and powerful on the palate, this is a wine that won’t disappoint the hedonists! It wears the rich, generous fruit well, with firm velvety tannins and just enough freshness to frame the fruit, finishing with epic length.
