I first met Dan Kosta and Michael Browne when they were working at John Ash, pooling and saving their tips so they could purchase grapes and create a winery. Their first release was a Sauvignon Blanc and I would run into Dan at various restaurants trying to make placements of his new wine, not an easy task.

Soon, they were able to purchase Pinot Noir grapes and in 2011 their outstanding 2009 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir was named wine of the year by the Wine Spectator (the only Pinot Noir to ever receiver that honor). From that point on, with financing in place, they never looked back.

Twenty years later, there are new financial partners and a state of the art winery, but the vision and focus still remains the same, making the best Pinot Noir possible. Vineyards for their Pinot comes from all over the state, with the majority being produced from local grapes grown in the Russian River Valley and the Sonoma Coast. They have branched out to the Central Coast and Mendocino County and continue to look for other great Pinot Vineyards.

I have been collecting Kosta Browne Pinot Noir since I joined the Mayacama Wine team. Our cellar is bursting with their great wines and now the time has come to share many with our members. Because I have smaller amounts of their great Pinots from all of their vineyards, it has been hard to put out an offer with enough of their wine to satisfy a regular offer. Therefore, I am offering a grab bag of various Kosta Browne Pinots. I will select a number of great vineyards for each order ensuring an exceptional tasting of Pinots from around the state. Vintages will be from 2014, 2015 and 2016.

To procure your Kosta Browne Pinots, let me know how many bottles you would like and I will put together a selection for you! The Kosta Browne pinots normally sell for $180 per bottle. Since I’ve traded for many of these wines, I paid slightly higher than wholesale but the values are still outstanding. Orders of six or more bottles will receive a 10% discount, case orders 15%.
