WINE OFFER
Lail Vineyards J. Daniel Cuvée

The 2016 Lail, J. Daniel Cuvée is another Parker 100 point gem. As in past offerings, this wine is highly allocated. The good news is I have both the highly rated 2014 and a bit of 2015 in inventory. A combo pack of one each of these 3 wines guarantees the highly rated 2016. For those who wish to only purchase the 2016, it will be available but highly allocated. Consideration will also be given to those who have supported the wine the last four offers. Don’t hesitate. This wine usually sells out in a day or two.

The Wines

2016 J. Daniel Cuvée, Napa Valley
J. Daniel Cuvée is deep purple, with intense aromas of blackberries, black cherries, dried herbs and dark chocolate. The flavors add savory notes of game, smoke, anise, and crushed rocks. Full-bodied, rich, powerful, and long, with fine-grained tannins, this is a compelling and enchanting vintage for J. Daniel Cuvée.

100 pts | THE WINE ADVOCATE
“One hundred percent Cabernet Sauvignon aged 20 months in 75% new French oak, the 2016 J. Daniel Cuvée is deep garnet-purple in color and offers up exuberant notes of creme de cassis, chocolate-covered cherries, wild blueberries, violets and unsmoked cigars with touches of garrigue, fragrant earth, powdered cinnamon, black olives and tree bark. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is built like a brick house, with a solid frame of firm, grainy tannins and seamless freshness supporting the taut, muscular fruit, finishing long and minerally." — Lisa Perrotti-Brown, MW, Robert Parker Wine Advocate

2015 J. Daniel Cuvée, Napa Valley
The 2015 vintage yielded a small crop of exceptional quality fruit. The 2015 J. Daniel Cuvée reflects this, with its modern Napa Valley ripeness coupled with classic varietal characteristics and structure. Black fruits are on full display in the aromas and flavors, including blackberry, black raspberry, black cherry, boysenberry, and black currant berry (cassis). The texture is creamy, elegant, regal and rich, with fine tannins lingering on a fabulously long finish. This is a wonderful vintage for J. Daniel Cuvée.

98+ pts | THE WINE ADVOCATE
“Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 J. Daniel Cuvée bursts forth with gregarious blackcurrant pastilles, black cherries and warm plum notes backed up by notions of spice cake, mocha and licorice. The full-bodied palate is powerfully fruited with opulent exotic spices accenting the black forest cake notions, framed by plush tannins and finishing with epic length. A beautifully buxom showstopper!” — Robert Parker, Jr. Wine Advocate

2014 J. Daniel Cuvée, Napa Valley
2014 was another drought year in the Napa Valley, again yielding a crop of small, intensely flavored grapes (especially from our two mountain vineyard sites). As is often the case, this J. Daniel Cuvée is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, showing off the beautiful energy and purity of this vintage. The aromas and flavors tilt toward the black fruits family, including black raspberry, black cherry, boysenberry and blackberry. It has that creamy, regal mid-palate that is a signature of this flagship bottling, and a perfect balance that should allow it to grow and improve for many years to come.

95-97 pts | THE WINE ADVOCATE
"The barrel sample of the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon J. Daniel Cuvée (100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the identical sources) exhibits beautiful, sweet tannin, loads of charcoal, a full-bodied flavor profile of blue and black fruits, softer tannins and a more open-knit, up-front appeal than the somewhat firm and more closed blockbuster 2013. In keeping with this vintage character, the wine is very showy, charming and should drink beautifully when released in a year or so, evolving gracefully for at least two decades.” — Robert Parker, Jr.
