“The Coach Insignia is a reflection of our family’s five-decade dedication to producing handcrafted wines that pay tribute to our unique estate vineyards on the Simmons Canyon Creek alluvial fan in Calistoga. This is a rare opportunity to experience some of the best vintages of the past decade!” ~ The Fisher Family
Fisher Vineyards is perhaps one of the most historic California wineries still operating under the ownership of its founding family.
It all started in 1973 when Fred Fisher (of Detroit’s Fisher Body automotive legacy) decided to move west to pursue a life of making wine in the flourishing Northern California winegrowing industry.
Fred, along with his wife Juelle, acquired an old cattle and sheep ranch at the very top of the Spring Mountain District, along the ridge that divides Napa and Sonoma County. The initial 100-acre purchase would grow to become the family's celebrated Mayacamas Mountain Estate – home of Fisher Vineyards.
In 1975, Fred and Juelle doubled down, purchasing a second vineyard – a 70-acre swath of land that straddles the Silverado Trail in Napa Valley’s Calistoga AVA. While the property is divided into several distinct parcels, the western portion of this plot is what is now famously known as the Coach Insignia Vineyard. Planted to a number of Cabernet Sauvignon clones, this prized vineyard features deep, rocky, loamy soils, striated with ribbons of gravel.
Today, Coach Insignia is not only the Fisher family’s flagship bottling, but also a wine that stands side-by-side with some of the more revered Cabernet Sauvignons produced in Napa Valley. Vintage after vintage, this vineyard has been known to produce a deeply compelling wine that matures and only gets better with more time in the bottle.
Since joining Mayacama, I have had the distinct pleasure of getting to know the Fisher family's second generation of Vintner’s – Whitney, Robert, and Cameron Fisher. From my time spent with them at both their Mayacamas Mountain Estate and their new world-class winery in Calistoga, as well as several tasting experiences and late nights in the Mayacama Clubhouse, I can genuinely say that the Fisher’s embody the term “Family Winery.”
To that end, it is my honor to bring you today’s Mayacama Email Offer – two separate vertical packs of Fisher Vineyards Coach Insignia Cabernet Sauvignon.
Members have the opportunity to access a 6-pack of 2011 – 2013 (2 bottles of each vintage), or 2014 – 2016 (2 bottles of each vintage). Feel free to purchase both sets to complete the 6-year vertical composition. Please note, each Member is limited to two 6-packs of each set.
