The main objective of Boich Family Cellars is to produce some of the finest single vineyard wines from Napa Valley’s most celebrated and proven vineyards.  By combining the highest quality fruit with the skill and passion of a very talented winemaker,  Jeff Ames, remarkable wines are produced.

Currently, Boich produces three single vineyard Cabernets from three different and distinct AVA’s in Napa Valley, a single vineyard Syrah from their home property plus they are introducing a Richie Vineyard Chardonnay from the Russian River Valley. Today, total production ranges between 800 and 1000 cases.  New vineyard acquisitions are coming online in the next two years and we expect Boich cellars to continue to grow, bringing great wines to the table.

The Wines

2015 Chardonnay, Ritchie Vineyards, Russian River Valley
Just bottled and ready for a March release, our Mayacama members were the first to taste this wine out of barrel at our January Boich Winemaker dinner. Ritchie Vineyards is a very well-known and prestigious vineyard, growing grapes for many of the cult wineries. The Ritchie Chardonnay shows amazing vibrancy and purity of flavor, brimming with juicy lemon scented green apple, white peach and tangerine, enlivened by zesty acidity and a long finish that maintains focus and depth.

2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, George III Vineyard, Rutherford
The famed Beckstoffer Georges III in Rutherford offers notes of charcoal, licorice, truffle, black currant and a full-bodied mouth feel with stunning richness, length and a great finish. It is a magnificent Cabernet from a first-growth vineyard that was once the backbone of the BV Private Reserves favored by Andre  Tchelistcheff. Robert Parker loves this wine and rated it 96 points

2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, Howell Mountain
For this sexy, delicious, up-front Cab, Boich purchased grapes from a well-known, high end cult winery that shall be unnamed (ask me personally for the name…I can’t put it in print).  This Cabernet has a dense ruby/purple color, hints of smoke, mineral, earth and spice.  Supple-textured, with loads of fruit, soft tannins and good acidity. The wine is lush and surprisingly approachable for a Mountain Cab.

2013 Cabernet Sauvignon, Wall Road
Pure texture, firm yet ripe tannins and loads of complexity are hallmarks of this mountain terroir. Notes of Elderberry, blackberry preserves and wild fennel give way to flavors of black currant, black tea and Crème Brule on the palate. Dark and distinct, this wine loves to open up layers of complexity in the glass. Quantities are limited and we will move to the 2014 once the 2013 inventory is exhausted.

2014 Syrah, Wall Road
Another big hit with Robert Parker, 95 points, this gorgeous Syrah has stunning aromatics, loads of floral notes, camphor, charcoal, blueberry and blackberry. This wine is inky purple and full-bodied with a layered mouth feel. This is a sensational Syrah.
