A Letter to Mayacama from the V Foundation
We are excited to welcome the members of Mayacama to the inaugural V Foundation Sonoma Epicurean signature event series. We are honored to have our Epic Party hosted at your prestigious golf club on April 1. The opportunity to bring together our generous donors and supporters at a luxurious and private venue will create the perfect atmosphere for excitement and generosity. We also welcome you to join us for our auction gala on the Grand Lawn at Montage Healdsburg on April 2.
The V Foundation for Cancer Research was founded in 1993 by ESPN and the late Jim Valvano, legendary North Carolina State University basketball coach and ESPN commentator. The Foundation has funded nearly $290 million in cancer research grants nationwide. Event proceeds, as well as 100% of donations to the fund-a-need, benefit cancer research funded by the V Foundation. Sonoma Epicurean fundraising will benefit the Stuart Scott Memorial Cancer Research Fund, an initiative dedicated to reducing disparities in cancer, as well as among cancer researchers.
With your help, scientists are making progress every day. Over the past 30 years, more people are surviving a cancer diagnosis than ever before. The overall cancer death rate in the U.S. has fallen by 26-percentage points, equating to 2 million lives saved. But our work is not done. Funding is needed to continue advancements that will save more lives.
Your support will accelerate cutting-edge research from all-star scientists that will help doctors diagnose cancer earlier and treat it more effectively. We will find answers that help us understand why cancer disproportionately affects minority racial groups. And we will invest in the future of cancer research by supporting a more diverse pipeline of doctors and scientists who are focused on finding cures and saving lives.
We look forward to having you join us in our fight against cancer!
Sincerely,
Shane Jacobson, Chief Executive Officer of the V Foundation
