CLUB UPDATE

Welcome Our New Wine Director, Carey Vanderborg

Being situated in the heart of the Wine Country, Mayacama was founded with a dedication to building a world-class wine program to complement our extraordinary golf course. This still rings true today, as the wine program continues to be a cornerstone of the Mayacama experience.

After an extensive search with nearly 75 applicants, narrowed down by a comprehensive interview process, we are delighted to introduce our new Wine Director, Carey Vanderborg.

Carey rose to the top as the best fit for our Club through his vision, confidence, and approachability. This became even more clear once we recognized his profound passion for wine, food, and hospitality.

Most recently, Carey worked as Sommelier for PRESS Restaurant in St. Helena, a restaurant widely known for its extensive wine list. At PRESS, Carey gained substantial knowledge in California wines, focusing on historic Napa and Sonoma producers. At Mayacama, we know he will continue to build on his experience and deliver truly memorable experiences for our Members and their guests.

Growing up in New York, Carey always dreamed of moving to California and working in the wine industry. He made that dream a reality last year when he moved to Napa after working on the East Coast as the Wine Director for a prominent restaurant group with multiple locations in Long Island and Connecticut.

"I'm incredibly excited to join the Mayacama family. My commitment to the Club is one that is long-term, and so the thing I am most excited about is the fact that I'll be able to share my passion for the world of Wine while building lasting relationships with all of the Members," Carey says.

Carey describes himself as a foodie who loves visiting new restaurants. He also enjoys listening to the Grateful Dead and cycling through Wine Country. Some of his favorite wines come from the regions of Champagne and the Loire Valley. He also loves Syrah from California and France.

Carey’s first day is Monday, November 16. Please join us in welcoming him to our Club.
