“We live the wine. It’s not just a vocation. This is a project that comes from who we are and what we love.” — Andy Smith, Winemaker, Viticulturist & Partner If there is one winery that is nearest and dearest to the hearts of longtime Mayacama Members, it is most certainly DuMOL.
Founded in 1996 by Kerry J. Murphy, the DuMOL name has since evolved into an iconic label, adored by lovers of California Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and well-respected by Sommeliers and Wine Directors throughout the world.

With a focus on small-lot Russian River Valley Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah, as well as Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, veteran winemaker Andy Smith has been working with numerous unique sites to present the purest essence of the vineyard and vintage.
Smith, the Winemaker, viticulturist and partner, has been at the helm of DuMOL’s continuous evolution since 1999. He and his close-knit team of three employ winemaking that is classical and intuitive, responsive to the needs of each wine, with the least “technique” necessary.
Andy explains, “Each bottling is built in the vineyard. Soil types, microclimates, plant material, maturity levels, how the vines react to the growing conditions, how we react to the vines – there are so many detailed variables. The nuance, the depth and complexity of the fruit that results from those variables, that’s what we aim to achieve and translate to bottle: purity, vibrancy, freshness – intensity without heaviness.”

In 2008, DuMOL completed construction on its own winery in the Windsor township. The building is the towns first “Green” facility – 100% solar powered and utilizing a bioreactor system to reduce all wastewater impact from winery processing activities to below that of a single-family household.
Beyond its environmental considerations, the winery was strategically designed by Andy to optimize the vinification of DuMOL’s many individual parcels with custom small-lot fermentation tanks.
DuMOL currently crafts 23 wines – 16 vineyard designates and seven appellation blends. Many of these wines are produced in small lots of less than 500 cases each.
Today, we are celebrating this iconic California producer with an offer that highlights the entry point for the DuMOL portfolio. Every year, the Wester Reach bottling captures the essence of the vintage, as seen through the lens of Winemaker Andy Smith.

The Wester Reach Pinot Noir is a blend of fruit from DuMOL’s Estate vineyards. Flax Vineyard, overlooking the river on Westside Road, is red fruited, structured, and full-bodied. A trio of Green Valley sites build the core of the wine. DuMOL Estate offers ripe black cherry fruits and woodsy complexity; MacIntyre is bright, floral, and tangy with purple fruit purity; Dutton layers-in broad soft texture and generous breadth. Our longtime Occidental Road vineyard, further east, deepens the wine with truffley sweetness and concentrated creamy red fruits.
For the Chardonnay, the broad orchard fruit generosity of Flax Vineyard centers the wine. Old Vine fruit from the iconic Ritchie Vineyard on Laguna Ridge then provides its trademark orange/tangerine intensity. Beyond the valley, approaching the coast, DuMOL Estate is the wine’s foundation, contributing powerful citrus fruit and savory-mineral drive. Perched high on a ridgetop overlooking the Green Valley, the Morelli vineyard brings a lemon and honey supple texture. The crowning element, a parcel in the majestic Heintz Ranch, delivers sweet botanical and truffle-infused complexity.
