Meet the Winemaker & Founders
Pioneers of Cool-Climate Winegrowing

We are excited to invite you to our second wine dinner of the year! Join us for an intimate evening featuring fantastic cool-climate Sonoma Coast Chardonnay & Pinot Noir, and Syrah paired with an exquisite four-course menu prepared by Executive Chef Robert Leva. As you enjoy the night, Winemaker Tanner Scheer and founders Richard & Alison Crowell will guide you through an exploration of each wine.

For two decades, Red Car has been on a journey—one that started in sunny Los Angeles and marched steadily northward toward a vision of cooler vineyard sites and the complex, aromatic wines they can express. Red Car was founded in 2000 with 50 cases of wine made from a single ton of Syrah grapes vinified in a Culver City garage. In a nod to their California roots, the new venture was named Red Car after the trolley line that ferried riders across Los Angeles for the first half of the twentieth century.

The coastal ridgetop vineyards in the West Sonoma Coast are situated in one of the most dramatically beautiful places in California. Formed by the San Andreas fault, the upthrust of the coastal range consists of a variety of soils perfect for growing grapes. Ridgetop elevations are cooled by their proximity to the Pacific, and are above the fog line allowing for abundant warm sunshine and a long dry growing season – ideal climatic characteristics for growing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah.
