In what has become an anticipated offering, we are back with another opportunity to access a library vertical of wine from one of Napa Valley’s most highly lauded properties – Opus One.
In past offerings, I have praised the ageability and classic nature of Opus One, and I continue to stand by those sentiments.
For 18 years, winemaker Michael Silacci has guided this project, from the vineyard to the winery, and into the bottle. What he has captured over almost two decades has been nothing short of magnificent.

I’m often asked, “How long should I age this wine?” My response every time is that there are qualities to appreciate about a wine at each and every moment of its life. Wine is a living breathing organism, and it will express itself in different ways over the course of its time in the bottle. In the most exceptional instances, the wine will evolve in your glass right before you.
Opus One’s history in Napa Valley dates back to its first release in 1984, with both the 1979 and 1980 bottlings being offered simultaneously. Since that time, the wine, and its name, has taken on somewhat of an iconic status, mentioned in the same breadth as other cult Napa cabs, and even rivaling first growth Bordeaux blends.
In my 2021 offer, I go into great detail regarding the history of Opus One and how the estate came to be. We explore the past, present, and future of winemaking at one of Oakville’s most remarkable properties. Click here to refer back to that article if you did not get a chance to read it.
The vertical format is a serious wine collector's dream. It’s the ultimate opportunity to track a single wine throughout multiple vintages and compare how the wines differ on a sensory level.

Some wines are better suited to this type of microscopic examination, and you can often find published articles from respected critics who have been given exclusive access to extensive retrospective tastings in an effort to prove the worthiness of the wines ageability. Opus One has been the focus of more than one of these lengthy features.

Once again, it is an honor and a pleasure to bring Mayacama Members exclusive access to a six-vintage vertical set of Opus One, with vintage representation from 2014-2019. We have yet to offer these vintages, as past offerings have ranged from 2004-2013.

This is a rare opportunity for members who have supported this offer in the past to continue the journey and acquire the subsequent vintages. Please note, 2019 is Opus’ current release vintage.
As always, feel free to reach out if you have any questions regarding these wines.
Thank you for your continued support.
Cheers!
